Scene E - The Bizarre Bazaar Empty Scene E - The Bizarre Bazaar

Post by Author Tue Mar 04, 2014 4:54 pm

Kalia, Marcy and Luc walk a number of blocks into the merchant district. The streets are laid out radially with a number of high and low end shops, all culminating in a great bazaar in a huge center plaza. Anything and everything can be found, from food to weaponry. While still predominately humans and elves, there are a number of other races milling about. A group of five militant Wolven roam about checking out weapons - most of them have a very professional demeanor, while another, a young woman, goes through a dwarf's weapon racks with child-like glee. Meanwhile A bored looking catfolk is selling small figurines, and an elven woman is selling jewelry.

At the very center of the plaza is a large circular stage, currently empty.

"Look, racks of toys!" Marceline lets out a little cheer then trots happily over to the rack of weapons. Now there are two young women going through the racks with a childlike glee.
I wonder if they have chakrams, or... Oooh! Kopesh's? Maybe I should pick up a knife set for Luc...

Marcy reaches for a gold and iron, jeweled Kopesh among the dwarf's weapons when the Wolven girl grabs it. She holds it up vertically before her face. "Hm, a Kopesh! Exotic, very odd weight distribution!" She swings it side to side, barely missing Marcy.

"Oi, careful with that, girl!" The dwarf at the stand warns.

"I know! Aren't they awesome? I mean..." Marcy picks up another Kopesh and runs her hands across the curve of the blade. "Gotta love a lady with curves right? I know a lot of people swear they like straight, but the ones that bend are always more fun."

The woman's eyes go from the sword to Marcy's, giving her an interested smile. She looks very young, barely 20 if even that, and speaks with a Victorian accent. "How sexual. My people are painfully straight-laced." One of the other Wolven lets out an annoyed sigh. "But I dunno, straight swords have their strengths too. So do axes, spears, anything sharp. Not a fan of blunt weapons."

"Hey now, the weight of a hammer can-" the dwarf speaks up.

"Yeah yeah yeah do cool stuff. Not a fan," the woman says, then holds out her hand to Marcy. "Name's Vanessa Keld."

"Vanessa don't-" another Wolven says, but Vanessa just holds up her finger, at which he snarls, but stops.

"Marceline." Marceline grips Vanessa's hand firmly but friendly. She only makes the slightest attempt to draw attention to her chest. "It's always a pleasure to meet a woman of similar tastes."
Gotta love the fun ones.

"Yeah... I hear that a lot." Marcy says as she shifts her weight, leaning to one side in order to accentuate her small curves. "But, I've found it to have a nice bite. Just requires a lot of experience and a good handler."
And silly good skills at blood sorcery, but can't go scaring the girl.
Then, Marcy 'drops' the seductive act and takes a slightly more truthful look
"And some sharp blades to give it a nice slash and tear."

Marcy flashes a honest smile at the girl.
Oh, look! Someone who can appreciate talent! This girl is awesome, clearly she must be trying to kill me. It's been one of those days.
"Thanks! How about yourself? What's your poison?

"Rum huh? Maybe I'll have to get you a glass sometime. I've been looking to expand my toys to include more sharp, bladed instruments and an expert opinion would be really nice to have. Any suggestions for a girl in the adventuring business?"
Marcy's dropped most of the seduction from her manner, switching closer to friendly banter and she gestures over the assembled weapons.
"And don't hold any suggestion back or idea back, I want to hear everything you have to say."

"Well, our wolven weapons, mostly straight-swords, are of a good balanced weight and grace. Elven weapons, usually more curved have a particular elegance. Dwarven weapons are heavier, unwieldy but with a particular punch. One handed blades are my favorite because you can dodge and weave through a battlefield with them. Big weapons are easy mode for fighting a lot of guys at a lower skill level, but with the right technique light weapons have a lot higher potential. Really I like larger weapons for duals, because while they're harder to defend with and harder to place the blows right, you have more focus on your one opponent, so it's more feasible..." Nessa rattles on for awhile, talking about the feel of an unprecedented number of weapon types.

Marcy listens intently as Nesssa rattles on. When talking to someone who knows all about killing people and the myriad amount of toys to do so, you pay attention. Especially if that person is a hot wolf girl. While she describes the feel of all the tools of her trade, Marcy makes several small attempts to move closer to the girl, only pressing forward when she feels comfortable.
Hot... Knowledgeable in weapons... Hot... I feel both informed and turned on.
"While I've been able to solve most problems with my whip, I'm hoping to pick up something I can use as a side arm. Let's say a big nasty has me tackled to the ground and is pinning down my whip arm. What small blades would you suggest to have hidden in easy to access locations? Something that I could use to stab big nasty in, say, the stomach or eye."

"Hm, it would need to be something small and versatile enough you could spin it around to the right direction. It would need to cause of lot of pain easy without a need for accuracy, so an assassin's blade wouldn't do it - something like a serrated knife, cause a lot of bleeding even if you just graze them. If we're talking enchantments, lightning would be best - a good shock would be most likely to loosen their grip. Plus," she holds down her hand and a dagger flies out of her bag and into her hand. She holds it up - the knife is jagged, like a lightning bolt, with each tip curling into a backwards claw. "It makes for a nice aesthetic."

Oh gods take me now
"Never been to much of a fan of the lightning aesthetic. I prefer blacks, reds and a little bit of silver, with a bit of a gothic spin. Serrated knives would work well though, and I do like weapons that can cause a lot of bleeding quickly. It's a major advantage I've found. That being said, your knife looks amazing"
Marcy's eyes scan over the assembled weapons, searching for any serrated blades.
"I also need to find a gift for this guy I know. He's saved my ass a couple times and I wanted to repay him."
Her voice drops to a hushed whisper, in order to make sure Luc doesn't over hear her.
"Best way I can describe it, I need combat culinary. Needs to be as good at cutting flesh as it is with chopping up vegetables. Nice, slashing edges.

Luc is a couple stands over, currently browsing at a hat vendor. Every few moments he glances up and around the general area, but ultimately his attention resets back to some ware. He treats a straw hat in his hand with a frown, then puts it on and looks to Kalia for an opinion.
"Eh... I dunno. Too much?"

Kalia is browsing the elf's jewelry with mild interest, but looks over at Luc. "Never been much for hats, myself. They fall off when you're upsidedown."

Meanwhile, Nessa stares at Marcy. After a short pause, she speaks. "I wouldn't know about how things cut vegetables, I'm afraid. We have chefs for that. Really I don't have much expertise in anything but fighting, I'm rather pampered on that end."

The other wolven have occupied themselves at other weapon and armor stands, but are clearly staying nearby, occasionally looking up at Marcy.

Luc shrugs and returns the headpiece where he found it. She had a point; with all the wind on a boat, a hat would be too easy to lose. He gives a quick glance to Marcy, then his glance around the general area, before letting his eyes rest on a nearby spice stand.
"So, sure you don't know what food is on board already? Surely you must have some idea. What've you been eating the past few weeks?"

"Ah, well then... I know serrated blades are good for cutting through everything but they might make to much of a mess of his cooking supplies, and he starts to bitch out whenever you mess with his ingredients."
Marcy takes a quick look at her Nessa's Wolven friends, then looks back to Nessa and says under her breath "So, if I offered to get you a drink, think there is any way we could sneak out and get your friends to not notice us? I wouldn't mind getting to know you a bit better."

A large Wolven man strolls past her and grabs Nessa by the arm, seeming to pay no attention to Marcy's presence. "We're here to buy arms, Vanessa," he growls, "not consort with the locals."

"Dad-" Vanessa snarls as he grabs her arm.
