Scene C - Nathandris on the Horizon
- For reference:
- Okay so, I need to Retcon something. Looking at the map, Nathandris is actually the main trade hub of the Haru Gulf. Arcadia competes by being a gateway between the gulf and Athens, as well as the land bridge between the two sides, but Nathandris is on that huge peninsula on the other side of the gulf and so it's next to everything across the water.
This means two things:
1) Tracy knows a lot about it. She's probably been there, her dad went with some frequency.
2) arguments can be made to just dock in the harbor. No one is going to recognize "the looming Spectre" by sight, and while still rare you probably won't be the only magic ship docked. It'll just make you look important, which would also quickly lend extra credibility to Tracy claiming to be Roderick Lathair's daughter. After all, her dad might actually be there. I know this should have been brought up in character but I decided some thing too late.
And so the crew spends a day sailing across the gulf.
In the morning they spot the gleaming city of Nathandris. The city had a hodgepodge of districts with different architectural styles, but prominently rising out of the center is a collection of building reminiscent of Persian architecture.
Much of the crew is asleep or elsewhere this early, but Roger, Mori, Troy and Crystal watch the sun rise over the city.

Re: Scene C - Nathandris on the Horizon
Mori is standing on the docks as the city rises into view, bent over and leaning on the railing of the ship. Dressed in her leather armor and the blackstaff resting in the crook of her arm She looks content, just patiently waiting to dock and see if there is anything worth spending her coin on. Maps, paper, new sets of dice and of course steak sammiches all run through her head as possibilities worth investigating.
"What are you guys looking to get?" Mori says aloud to whomever else is on the deck at the time. "Besides the important stuff. Anything fun? I could probably use a new hat or a coat."

"Get that little pirate hat for Jasper you wanted," Troy says with a chuckle. "But... You know, I thought I had to say goodbye to owning furniture, but now... The furniture the boat already has is great of course, but it'd be nice to pick something out for myself. Maybe a painting or something."
"That would be nice..." Crystal says.

"Yeah it would..." Mori says with a soft smile. "Maybe after we get the necessites taken care of there will be time for a trip to a gallery?"

"I believe the plan was to stop and smell the roses, hardly makes sense not to see what Nethandris has to offer. Especially if Tracy's connections really do get us somewhere. Much as the delays might try your patience, Crystal."
She smiles back at him. "Hey, I agreed to come with you guys knowing we well might never find the city."

"Who knows, perhaps there are secrets to be discovered even in this port town!" Mori replies. "Some lost map pointing us to the legendary city... Or perhaps some magical items that were created there...I should see about picking up more ritual spells..."

"Of course!" Mori says, turning to look at Crystal and smacking herself in the head for not thinking of this sooner. "I'd love to share the little wizardy that I've picked up if your willing. It's probably nothing compared to what you have, and you'd really be doing me a bigger favor. Still, maybe you could teach me somethings? Jasper would except that telling me anything is against her code of ethics. I think she gets physically ill if she tells you anything before you've spent a month trying to make it out."

Jasper leaps down from the Crow's Nest onto the rail next to Mori. Troy flinches and Crystal all but leaps away. "Now now, I give hints sometimes~"
Re: Scene C - Nathandris on the Horizon
Mori simply shrugs and reaches over to scratch Jasper behind the ears. "Can I have a hint then?"

"I was thinking it would be more up your alley to give me a cryptic hint and not tell me what the hint is about. I have a general understanding of how spells work. Normal people trace some lines and stuff happens. Then sorcerors can just make elemental stuff happen. Lastly I just make stuff happen."

"And Clerics call upon their God to put form to their power," Troy says.
"And Warlocks call forth the power of Sin, all too willing to listen, and shamans command the power of spirits via a benign psionic empathy."
"Through a what?" Troy says.
"Nothing~. Suffice to say the power of a mortal's soul can be wielded in a number of ways."

"Yup. If only someone could explain to me exactly what I am I'd certainly have less headaches." Mori says.
And less bad dreams...

"Alas, that I cannot say."
"So you really don't have any clue what Mori's staff is?"
"Now I didn't say that," Jasper says, "Just, not exactly. Or for sure. Just... Well anyway..." She swishes her tail.

"I can tell you that you should distinctly not touch it." Mori chimes in while fumbling with leather straps on her right arm. She passes the Blackstaff from the crook of her right arm to the crevice of her left while sliding off the leather gauntlet. Slithering up her right forearm are five twisting lines of black that emerge from a central point in her right palm. The tainted lines stop just below the elbow, but cross over her arm in a sinister serpentine style. She channels a bit of magic, and like the staff the lines glow with a similar ethereal translucence. "It did this to me when I first grabbed it. And when I smack monsters with the staff it does the same thing to them but vastly more lethal."

Troy and Crystal grimace at the sight.
"I'll... Be sure not to..."

"I would have warned you all early but I wanted to make sure you wouldn't kill me for being a abomination first." Mori says, putting back on her gauntlet and strapping it down. "This thing is... Something I hope Alexandria has answers to."
