Scene E - Show Off
Roderick stands in stunned silence within the Spectre's bar area. Roger sat before Phil, playing the old fashioned game of 'shrimp under one of three cups' game while Jasper spectates.

Re: Scene E - Show Off
Mori frowns for a moment and walks over to Roger, her staff making a *tap, tap, tap* sound against the ground. "Roger..." She says with a teasing tone "You're not being a bad influence on the house monster are you..."

Tracy struts about with a huge grin across her face. "So dad, what do you think? Amazing, isn't it?"

"A Bad influence? Me?? Hardly! Jasper just wanted to see what Phil's mental capabilities are."
"You... are... the Jolly Roger..."
"Indeed I am!" Roger says, "Who are you?"
"I... am Roderick Lathair, merchant extraordinaire. I... have heard stories but..." he scratches his head and turns to Tracy. "I'll admit, I thought it would at least take a long time for you to surpass my net worth."

Mori sighs and shakes her head dejectedly. "Your realize he can probably smell the shrimp right..."

"Well, it's a shared ownership thing. I dunno. How much would you appraise the ship for? Since it's split so many ways, you may still have a higher net worth than my share of the ship," Tracy replies, thinking for a moment. Shopkeeper's daughter instincts take over as she begins thinking about the various costs of components on the ship, as well as the percentage split among owners. "I could maybe guess a value for this ship, but given I have no idea how much you've got stored away. I can't really judge your net worth against my share."

Roderick just laughs. "You might give me a price on the material value and the craftsmanship, but on top of that this ship is literally a legend. That's the definition for 'priceless' right there."
"You raise a fair point Mori," Jasper says, "We should try it with something shiny then."
"So um... The... Talking cat and the Murloc aren't part of the story as I know it." Roderick says.
"Ah, yes, my name is Jasper! Jasper-the-mysterious-talking-cat. Pleased to meet you."
Roderick scratches the back of his head. "...likewise. I don't suppose you'll avail any of that 'mysterious' aspect?" Jasper just laughs.

Mori just smirks as once again Jaspee gets the joy of introducing herself to someone new.
"Your daughter is on a boat full of legends and mysterious things. She'll probably have plenty of stories to tell you once we are through."

"I... See... And the... Murloc?"
Phil becomes dismayed with Roger's lack of shrimp-providing action and looks back and forth between him and Roderick. "Blrgh?"

"I... Huh."
"Murlocs are a little smarter than 'pets' - use of tools and rudimentary language."
"Well, it seems I have some stories to hear. I... Don't suppose you can go into town, Roger?"
"Nope, I'm bound to the ship."
"Well, I was going to invite you all to dinner in town but I confess hardly want to leave a legend's company. Though you all must see what this city has to offer; how long will you all be staying?"
Kai shrugs. "Long as we feel like I suppose."

"I wouldn't turn down dinner though. So, we are definitely staying long enough for dinner." Mori says. "If Kai says otherwise I'm stealing his ship."

Re: Scene E - Show Off
And so, the party spends a few days in the great city of Nathandris. Roderick takes the party to dinner at the finest of restaurants, supplying whatever is needed to meet dress code. Marilynn, however, declined the offer out of distaste for high-society atmosphere and went carousing. Accordingly she won a fair some playing cards, but quickly spent it at a brothel.
Other activities include watching a sports game that’s basically hockey, but played with bats and an enchanted ball that hovers about 5 feet off the ground. Troy also buys a chair, and a painting of a forested glade for his room. Crystal, unsurprisingly, buys books on magic. Mori gets her hands on a map that charts a portion of a continent to the north-east of the region. And, of course, her variously sized pirate hats.
Some time is spent taking the ship off to unpopulated places to let Phil run around and catch seafood - something he proved good enough at to yield a helpful surplus.
Roderick also provides the party with a few leads for adventure. “Just to the east are the Arabi Mts, and I hear a lot of stories of strange things living up there. I also hear pretty strange stories about the Yoltei Isle a ways north, a forested place I think. And if you’re just looking for some assured funds, caravans go from here east to Roreck, and passing through the Yoltei Mts and into the Osi desert they have to pay handsomely for escorts. Huge problems with Gnoll raiders over there – at least that’s the common threat along the trade-routes. The Osi desert is rich with things to fight and sunken ruins to find if you go off the beaten path, too – but I’m not sure you guys want to get into the center of the continent, considering.”

"I'm in for mysterious forest island," Tracy says as she twirls her sword idly. "We have a boat. It'd be a shame not to use it."

"True," Kai says, looking at the map, "Though we could get to the north end of the mountains by boat too."
"I've always wanted to see Roreck myself, though it is un-ideal to cut through the center of the land."
"I prefer a concrete job and some idea of what we're fighting."
"Our first job was going into a cave because we didn't know what was there, why are you with us?"
"Because I was bored then and now I have a share in your boat."
"Fair enough. I have to agree with Tracy about the forest though."

"I, uh... I'm not a big fan of the desert," Luc affirms with a mild tone of discomfort. "And honestly, becoming caravan escorts right when we got this lovely ride sounds like a terrible idea. So, what kind of weird stories are we talking about here? Isolated mountain spring with some sorta shark-harpy thing camping there? World's best secret salon? Lonely plant people looking for friendly company?"

"At which spot?" Roderick asks. "The mountains have all kinds of weird-monster-sightings. Even the people passing through the main road report feeling like they're being watched the whole way through. The forest... More scattered, I think there are supposed to be some old ruins there but there's also probably sylvan tribes of one kind or another."

"Hmmm..." Mori taps her chin thoughtfully. "Sand has this habit of getting into places I don't want it to go. I vote islands or the strange stuff to the east."

"Mmm..." Luc hums in thought, rubbing his chin for a moment. "I'm with Mori on this one. And y'know, I haven't done much mountain trekking before, I'm gonna have to place my vote on the... what was it, the Urabi Mountains? Arabi?"
