Thread B - Sparring match

[Author]

"Clearly," Kai says, "We need to fight to first blood. Which means," he smirks, "I win."

[Marceline Mori]

"Hmmm..."
Marceline quickly strips off her shorts and throws them to the side.
"0-1 then. Now, how about we play till submission? If you can handle a little rough play."

"Oh believe me. I can handle rough."

[Marceline Mori]

"Good."
Marcy then makes a quick jab towards Kai, sending out a probing strike to test his defense.

Kai snaps the back end of his axe up into Marcy's forearm, knocking the blow off course.

[Marceline Mori]

Marcy rolls backwards to create distance between the pair, then makes a sweeping motion sending out a thin wave of blood.

Kai leaps over the attack and flips forward, bringing his axe down upon Marcy.

[Marceline Mori]

Marcy rolls to the side, smiling at the adrenaline rush as the lighting infused axe flies by her head.
"Not bad! But jumping attacks are telegraphed."
Marceline creates a blood scythe and grips it in two hands, then swings right at Kai. It is, however, a ruse. She plans to have the blood scythe shatter apart before contact and spike around him.

Kai pulls up his axe to block the scythe with the flat side of the axe. The scythe splits apart into spikes while Kai is still recovering from his landing. The size of his axe-shield protects him from any major blows from it, but he gets a number of scrapes before leaping back.

Marceline pulls back the thrown blood before she expends to much by accident. Her chest heaving a little from the sudden burst of action, Marceline grins in such a way that she displays her fangs. A single strand of her hair falls loose and hands over her eye giving the woman a rather vicious, hungering look. Her returned blood forms into a bloody shield as she anticipates Kai's next attack.

Kai stops for a moment, "You're even more attractive when you're violent."
Kai touches the head of his axe with his left hand and a sigil lights up, causing lightning to crackle around it and his hand. Then he grips it again with both hands and rushes her again, swinging the axe right into her shield.

[Marceline Mori]

Marcy drops the shield at the last moment, turning the blood into a small arm blade and rolls under the attack. Then she strikes at Kai's back with a vicious yell.

Kai quickly spins around and takes his left hand off his weapon's hilt, pointing it at Marcy and shooting lightning into her stomach.

[Marceline Mori]

The blast of lighting catches Marcy by surprise, and she's unable to tough through it. Her attack is halted as she grips her stomach.

Kai takes the opening to swing the flat side of his axe into Marcy's shoulder

While the trick lightening got her down, she's certainly not out and lashes out with her blood whip, attempting to trip up Kai.

Marcy rolls a natural 1 to trip Kai, turning instead to meet the side of his axe with her face and getting flung back a good few feet, landing flat on her back.
"Ouch," Kai says sympathetically, then begins doing... well something. All Marcy can see is the sky. And stars.

[Marceline Mori]

Marcy lays dazed on her back as she regains her composure.
Ughhh... That was bad. I could burn some blood and heal, but if we are heading somewhere dangerous I might need it soon.
She attempts to raise herself onto an elbow, and get an eye on what her sparring partner is doing.

Marcy looks up to see Kai's hand pressed against the head of his axe, casting another some sort of spell.

Once more, Luc stirs from one of his afternoon naps, this time dangling upside-down high up in some of the sail riggings. Though, 'nap' was a loose term; all the heavy winds made it rather difficult to actually sleep, though it was still rather tranquil to simply sway with the breeze. But, that was enough of that for today; he releases the rope from his grasp, letting himself plummet downward towards the deck as he unfurls his wings, which promptly slow his descent to something substantially less painful. He lands and rubs an eye with the back of his hand, looking around.
"Afternoon," he greets in a somewhat groggy tone.

Luc drops down to see Marcy sprawled on her back and Kai casting a spell. However, Luc's knowledge of Marcy's love for violence and Kai's sympathetic "ouch" probably tips him off to the friendly nature of the tussle.

[Marceline Mori]

Oh shit, Luc's here? Now I have to win.
Marceline draws upon her vampiric power to accelerate her healing, then spin kicks up into a fighting position. She points at Kai, then beckons him towards her.
"Is that the best you've got Kai? Show me your moves!"

[Author]

"As you wish," Kai says, and points his fingers at Marcy. A bolt of lightning streaks at her, then splits into three just a few feet before her.

Oh, huh. A sparring match. Luc resigns himself to folding his arms and leaning against a nearby mast, watching the fight with idle interest.
"Having fun, you two?" he asks the sparring pair casually.

[Author]

Marcy uses her blood powers to speed out of the way, but it isn't quite enough and one still strikes her, creating an opening which Kai attempts to rush.

[Marceline Mori]

Playing fast and reckless this time, relying on her vampiric powers to allow for more mistakes, Marcy meets Kai's rush with a brutal counter attack. She pushes a egregious amount of blood out of the gauntlet and taps into its power to create a blood hammer, and then tries to shove it into Kai's body.

She's prepared to tap into the blood again in order to dodge any reactions to her brash attack.

Kai slams the flat head of his axe sideways against the hammer, jeering it off course. He spins with the momentum and whirls the axe again at Marcy. Marcy rolls 23 reflex, matching Kai's attack and dodging under the blade by a hair.
